3 steps to window cleaning

As a business owner, there is nothing worse than having horrible, dirty, and streaky windows. Not only does this create a poor first impression for your clients, but it can also be quite distracting and unmotivating for your employees as well.
There are many home remedies and different variations floating around as to what the best way to clean your windows without streaky glass. But there is certainly a distinct difference between giving your windows a quick once over clean, as opposed to having them professionally attended to by a professionally commercial and industrial cleaning team, such as AQWA Property Services.
THE WINDOW CLEAN
There is little doubt that having crystal clear streak free glass is what the end goal is , when it comes to cleaning windows and there is certainly nothing more frustrating than cleaning your glass and be left with streaks!
In our view, as industry professionals, the tried and tested way to achieve a sparkly clean window that is streak free is the oldest home remedy going. Good old trusty white vinegar.
OUR METHOD
For those times where you may be in between visits with us and need a quick solution to get you through to your next professional clean, we suggest using the following method.
Using two (2) clothes, a chux type of cloth (or a thicker type of cloth) for cleaning the glass, and another cloth, preferably lint free.
For every 8-10 liters of water, 2 cups of vinegar will be plenty. So, take your bucket and fill with hot water. for best results, hot water should be used – as hot as you can handle. After filling the bucket with 8-10 liters of hot water, add two cups of white vinegar to the water. Give the solution a stir.
Using a chux cloth (or something similar), dip the cloth in the water and vinegar solution and then wring out. Taking your wet cloth, rub the window glass in a circular motion, top to bottom, going side to side, until you have covered the entire window. You may need to concentrate on any areas that are particularly dirty.
Once you have rubbed the cloth over the entire window glass, take your other cloth and by using the same motion, rub the dry cloth over the window glass. The aim of this is to remove the residual water, dry the glass without any water marks forming. In doing this, you should be left with crystal clean, streak glass – a pleasure to look through.
If you have stains on your window, you can rub them with straight vinegar and let it sit for at least five (5) minutes. After five minutes, rub the affected area to remove the stain. This process may need to be repeated until the stain has been removed. In some cases, where there are crusty and gritty stains, you may need to use a razor blade to gently scrap the crusty and gritty bits off. Following the removal of most of the “bits”, then spray the affected area with straight vinegar and let sit for five minutes before cleaning.
It is important to ensure that all the stains are removed from the window otherwise you will not be able to achieve a streak free window. As white vinegar is the most acidic type of vinegar, it makes it perfect for cleaning windows as it can cut through grease, stains, and odours.
By using a lint free cloth for cleaning the residual water, it will not only leave you with streak free glass, but those pesky little pieces of cloth fibre will not be left behind. Using paper towel is also effective, however it does have a tendency to leave lint behind. If you don’t have either, using newspaper in place of the lint free cloth will do the same job.
